NRA Competitions Division has released new rules, creating specific equipment categories of Open, Metallic, and Production. This is optional, not mandatory, and the Match Bulletin can specify which categories will be used, and which ones may be combined as desired by the club running the match.
Nothing prohibits running a match just like we have for years with all competitors shooting against each other within their respective classifications.
Current Bullseye pistols will be Open, with iron sights and ball guns comprising Metallic. Rack grade pistols are Production. Shooters can carry Classifications specifying Open, Metallic and/or Production, in that order of importance.
